As the summer’s harvest season gradually comes to a close on the Monterey Bay, the hectic pace of our busy farmers markets slows to a gentler, calmer kind of shopping experience. Lush winter greens of all descriptions fill the stalls, along with winter squash, persimmons, pomegranates, and freshly picked citrus providing colorful reminders of the abundance our region has to offer. Crates of rustic, earthy tubers and root vegetables bring to mind the upcoming holiday feasts we’ll enjoy with family and friends along with a comforting sense of winter sustenance. Holiday wreaths and blooming potted plants are colorful reminders that we live in a place like no other.
We are filled with gratitude for your patronage and support of our local family farmers who bring their best every week, rain or shine, and hope you’ll consider doing some of your holiday shopping at our farmers markets. We have loads of interesting food gifts available from our food artisans and farmers that are sure to please the most finicky gourmand. Locally produced olive oil, honey, preserves, pastries, bread, baked goods, glazes, mustard, roasted nuts, dried fruit, handmade confections along with a few products only found during the holidays make wonderful gifts.
Our Farmers Market Big Bucks make practical gifts, too, for friends and family. They are available at the information booth on the second level of the Aptos Farmers Market.
From our market family to yours — happy holidays!
