Information Booth Concierge Assistants
We plan to open an information booth concierge this coming year at the Aptos Farmers Market to welcome shoppers and help guide visitors in finding products and vendors, sell market tote bags and calendars, and take sign-ups for our newsletter, Edible Paradise. We are actively seeking individuals who enjoy the market, have a helpful and courteous attitude, and can help orient new visitors to our market.
Skills required: an interest in local agriculture, love of food; great customer service skills, positive attitude; ability to memorize facts; promote special events and monthly programs; handle money, when needed. Minimum time commitment is a three hour shift at the Saturday market.
Festival and Special Event Assistants
The MBCFM hosts eight to ten special festivals and events per year, the majority of which are at the Aptos Farmers Market. Festival and special event days add speakers, childrens’ activities, contests, and workshops to the regular shopping atmosphere. You may be called on to decorate the information booth, set up the chef stage and judging tables, accept and organize entries for contests, etc. We are searching for creative, artistic people who can make things look great with a very small budget, using what is available at the market whenever possible. This position may involve arriving at the market at 6:30 am.
Skills required: a smile, creativity and a fun loving attitude; ability to follow directions from the market manager. Minimum time commitment is general three hours, but varies with each event.
Office Assistants
Like to work from home? Have a computer? We need people to help input our email list, assist with special administrative projects and fundraising promotions.
Skills required: Accurate data input skills, general office skills.
Grant Writers
The MBCFM has experienced phenomenal growth over the past two years and needs assistance in writing and applying for grants to help support our new educational programs; develop programs to improve the access and patronage of lower-income consumers fo fresh food through an increased focus on nutrition and health; implement programs to expand consumer awareness of locally grown farm products through promotional activities; and to continue the implementation of promotional strategies that increase market visibility and accessibility.
Skills required: Proven ability to research and identify grants that are suitable for our organization and to help us apply for grants.
