Vegetables and Fruits at the Markets

California — the greatest food resource in the US

All year round, California grows the majority of the fruits and vegetables in the U.S. California’s agricultural abundance includes more than 400 commodities. At our farmers markets, you’ll find an exceptional selection of fruits and vegetables at the peak of season produced by small family farmers on the Central Coast and the Central Valley. The MBCFM is a “certified” organization, meaning the participating farmers are certified with the state and sell only products they grow themselves.

In addition to their famous avocados, Brokaw Ranch grows citrus and other subtropicals such as white guavas, cherimoyas, California mangoes, passionfruit and kiwi. Read about their newest avocado variety — the Hass Carmen.

Seasonal Recipes

Classic Basil Pesto is easy to make with fresh ingredients from the farmers markets. We like to use a sweet Genovese basil for our pesto. Stir pesto into warm pasta, add a dollop to soups, or use as a spread on sandwiches.
